Context

Play the “Thief Changes Mind” video.

 

Then ask questions like these:

  • What is your immediate reaction to watching this video?
  • Do you think the fact that the would-be thief knew the clerk cause him to feel compassion?
  • In what ways can our relationship with God be seen in this world?
  • If you were going to explain to a child how much you love them, what would you say?
  • How would you describe to a child how much God loves them?

Read aloud or play the Ephesians 3:14-21 video

 

Followed by the Bible Background Video

 

Then ask questions like these:

  • Do you pray for big and specific or for general and small things?
  • Why might a spiritually rich parent desire for their children to be spiritually disadvantaged?
  • What do you think was the purpose behind praying for power for the Ephesians?
  • In what ways might embracing God’s power to love us help us overcome some of life’s difficulties?

Closure

Play the “I Forgive You” video:

 

Then ask questions like these:

  • What causes followers of Jesus to forgive like that?
  • What may have gone through the minds of the people who were able to publicly offer forgiveness on the shooter?
  • What impact do you think that this offering of forgiveness had on the shooter and why?
  • What impact do you think the reactions to these offers of forgiveness might have had on those who offered it and why?
  • What do you think this incident demonstrates about the power of God’s love and the importance of prayers like those found in Ephesians and why?
