We talk about refusing to take no for an answer, then reflect on Jesus’ encounter with the Canaanite/Syrophoenician mother who persists for her tormented daughter and answers Jesus’ “dogs” remark with a plea for crumbs. We consider how her boldness expands the circle of grace, exposes privilege and bias, and even prompts Jesus to rethink, becoming a pivot toward the Gentiles. We connect this to living our faith as expansive grace, persistent justice for others, and a willingness to be changed.
