Can You See Me Now?

For the session to be discussed on August 9, 2026
Matthew 14:22–33

David Cassady
Nikki Hardeman
Jaye Peabody Smith

We open the podcast on Matthew 14:22–33 by sharing everyday fears (our kids’ safety, heights, roaches, stinging insects, control) and how fear can help yet also immobilize us. We note Jesus’ self-care in praying alone, then reflect on the disciples fearing a “ghost,” Peter’s doubt, and Jesus’ call to come—inviting us out of our comfort zones to trust God amid wind and waves. We discuss naming fears in ministry, fear in job changes and activism, “perfect love casts out fear,” and how forces can make us afraid of each other. We remember life’s fragility and choose to live fully in faith, trusting God’s presence.
