In Acts 16 we meet two women bound by the same economy: Lydia, a wealthy dealer in purple whose heart God opens, and an unnamed enslaved girl whose truth-telling threatens her owners’ profits. We marvel at the women gathering by the river to make holy space, yet we’re haunted that Lydia gets a name, a home, a church—while the freed girl simply vanishes. We ask: room for whom?
