John 8:1–11

We reflect on John 8 as a story about power: religious leaders use an unnamed woman caught in adultery to trap Jesus, exposing hypocrisy and the missing man. Jesus’ response—“let whoever is without sin throw the first stone,” his writing in the dirt, and his refusal to condemn—turns judgment into a mirror for the accusers and gives her back a future. We connect this to how women are still blamed, objectified, and denied agency, and to modern injustices like lack of due process. We’re urged to treat people as persons, invite God into our broken places, and let grace transform how we see others and ourselves.
