In this episode we reflect on what sacrifice looks like in everyday life, then explore the story of two unnamed mothers before Solomon and a threatened child. We focus less on Solomon’s clever test and more on the mothers’ grief, marginalization, and love—especially the mother whose compassion “burned within her” and who was willing to relinquish her claim so the child could live. We consider how pain can drive harmful choices, how community and empathy matter in grief, and how family is defined by love and surrender rather than biology.
