We discuss 1 Peter 2:19–25 (noting the lectionary omits v.18 on enslaved people) and what it means to take risks, protest injustice, and endure unjust suffering without retaliation while keeping our eyes on Jesus. We reflect on student walkouts and the cost of speaking up, how Christians choose battles, and how suffering can make us feel abandoned yet closer to God. We end by urging us to walk alongside those who suffer with love and compassion.
