We share times we surprised ourselves, then Jaye describes being mistreated before preaching, and then connects it to Peter’s transformation at Pentecost: empowered by the Holy Spirit, Peter proclaims Jesus’ miracles, crucifixion, resurrection, and fulfilled prophecy, leading to 3,000 conversions. We discuss how the Spirit can feel unpredictable and threaten “safe” church routines, using dove vs. wild goose imagery, and how worship can be planned yet open. We reflect on cultivating sensitivity to discomfort, major church change, and learning new awareness to better listen for the Spirit.
