Context

Say: The film “Hidden Figures” recounts the remarkable true story of three brilliant African-American women—Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson—who played pivotal roles at NASA during the early days of the U.S. space program. As the United States raced against Russia in the Space Race, these “human computers” calculated trajectories for astronaut John Glenn’s historic orbit, breaking barriers of gender and race. Their brilliance cemented them as American heroes.
