Share together the video of Spock’s Death (Stop at 3:42) and ask:

• What about this scene most stands out to you and why?
• Why do you think we so prominently include a willingness to sacrifice for others in our hero stories?
• Given that the character who made the sacrifice in this scene is usually portrayed as emotionless and detached, what is the significance of his doing this?
• To what degree is seeking the best for everyone else a logical versus an emotional decision and why?
• What about the world in which we live is defined by the sacrifices some people have made?
• Who in your life would you say has made the most sacrifices for you, and why?
