Introduction

Today, we celebrate the second Sunday of Advent. As we do we will look together at 2 Peter 3:1-15a. The season of Advent is a season of waiting. We wait in anticipation for the coming of Christ. In church, we often focus our waiting in this time of year on the baby Jesus at Christmas; but that is not what this time is really about. Advent is the time of year that we remind ourselves of our hope in the return of Christ. That is what today’s text is all about.
