Introduction
This week we are waiting with peace or more accurately, Shalom, the Hebrew word for peace. The poet writing the verses in our text today is recalling all that God has done for Israel in the past and pleads for God to do those things again. The poet focuses on the ways that God has forgiven their collective sin and on the ways God has restored them and their land. Ultimately, the author is pleading for peace, or more accurately, Shalom.
Scripture: Psalm 85:1-2, 8-13
Let me hear what God the Lord will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his faithful, to those who turn to him in their hearts.
Surely his salvation is at hand for those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land.
