Introduction

Today we are continuing our work in the book of 1 Peter 2:19-25. Today’s text is a pretty difficult text to wrestle with when we do understand the full context. When we do take the time to understand its context we will discover that we cannot read this passage the way most of us have been taught to read it and we can’t take for granted that it applies to us perfectly because many of us cannot relate to the circumstances of the audience.

Scripture: 1 Peter 2:18-25

For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in his steps. “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.”When he was abused, he did not return abuse; when he suffered, he did not threaten; but he entrusted himself to the one who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

Session Pages

Update: Due to the affects of the COVID-19 Coronavirus, most Bible study groups are finding themselves meeting virtually, if at all. In an effort to be responsive to your emerging needs in these times, we are changing our format to make it more accessible for home use. Faithelement is adding a new “Connect” session page, and combining youth and media during this time. “Connect” is designed to work with virtual forms of keeping connected with your group. The youth page also now does not assume a group activity time. We plan to return to our usual session page set when groups are again able to meet in person. Please advise us on how we might better serve your needs in these trying times.
