This week we are in the book of 1 Corinthians for the 4th week and we have two more weeks with the Corinthians. Our passage this week is found in chapter 8 verses 1-13. In this passage, Paul is responding to a very specific issue at the church in Corinth. The church at Corinth would have people in it who used to worship idols at one of the many temples in the city by offering burnt sacrifices to them and it would have Jews in it who would have been horrified at the idea of idol worship.
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 8:1-13
Now concerning food sacrificed to idols: we know that “all of us possess knowledge.” Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. Anyone who claims to know something does not yet have the necessary knowledge; but anyone who loves God is known by him.
