Before the Session

Facilitator: In advance of the session

• Review today’s scripture text and the session activities to help better facilitate the discussion.
• Have the Bible Background Video ready to view.
• Encourage your group to listen to the Faithelement podcast ahead of the next session (Share the link via email or social media).
• Before leading this session, read through the entire Psalm (the lectionary omits verses 7-12). Questions noted with an asterisk (*) focus on this “skipped” section, if you feel the group can wrestle with it.
• Some words and images in this Psalm vary by translation. Consider having different translations available as you discuss.

Context (From the Media Session Page)

Say: Filmed over twelve years with the same cast, Richard Linklater’s film Boyhood follows Mason from age six to eighteen as he navigates divorced parents, frequent moves, stepfathers, first love, and self-discovery. Ordinary moments accumulate into a quietly profound portrait of growing up, ending as Mason arrives at college in West Texas.
