Context
Say: A Quinceañera is a special celebration in Latin American cultures that marks a girl’s 15th birthday and her transition from girlhood to womanhood. In the context of a quinceañera celebration, a “dama” refers to someone specifically selected to be part of the quinceañera’s court. Damas are usually close friends, relatives, or individuals who hold special significance for the quinceañera.
