Before the Session

  • Have the Bible Background Video ready to view.
  • Review today’s scripture text and the session activities to help better facilitate the discussion.
  • You might want to consider changing your screen background slightly, or if meeting in person, move items around in your meeting place in order to check everyone’s observation skills (See Context).
  • Encourage your group to listen to the FaithElement podcast ahead of the next session (Share the link via email or social media).

Context (From the Media Session Page)

Play the “Going Through Tough Times” video and ask the group:

  • How much work would it be to do something personally big, like earning a doctoral degree or becoming a professional athlete?
  • What sort of motivation do you think it takes to do difficult things?
  • What would cause those same highly motivated people to feel everything they had done before was a waste or that they had found something better?
  • How does a regular person abandon their previous path for something else?
  • When do we know that we are on the right path in life?

Content (From the Conversations Session Page)

Have your group read Philippians 3:4-14 then play the Bible Background Video and ask:
