Thank you for the reminder of the power and liberation of questions. When I was a seminarian, many questions ago, a deacon of a church in which I was preaching challenged me one night by saying, “You’ve got more questions than any preacher I ever heard. I hope the seminary gives you some answers.” Forty plus years later, the deacon would be surprised to know that my questions still far exceed my answers. What he might not understand is that my freedom to question is one of the keys which has made it possible for me to remain of faith. Of course, when God puts God’s Self on the cutting table, how can one not believe and question?
