Introduction

This week we are back in the New Testament. We are looking together at Paul’s letter to the Church at Ephesus in the first chapter verses 11-23. This letter is unique from many of Paul’s other letters in that he does not address particular issues the church facing and he doesn’t reference particular people in the church community. It is believed that this letter may have been a more general letter that was circulated to many of the churches that Paul had contact with.

Scripture: Ephesians 1:9-23

In Christ we have also obtained an inheritance, having been destined according to the purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to his counsel and will, so that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, might live for the praise of his glory. In him you also, when you had heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and had believed in him, were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit; this is the pledge of our inheritance toward redemption as God’s own people, to the praise of his glory.
