Introduction

This week, we are looking at the story of Hannah as it is told in 1 Samuel 1:1-28. It is the story a woman who longs to have a child, who is tormented in many ways because she does not have a child, and of a woman who when her deepest desire is granted to her, responds with even deeper gratitude to the one who delivered her.

Scripture: 1 Samuel 1:1-28

There was a certain man of Ramathaim, a Zuphite from the hill country of Ephraim, whose name was Elkanah son of Jeroham son of Elihu son of Tohu son of Zuph, an Ephraimite. He had two wives; the name of one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.
