Introduction
This text begins by telling the story of the ark of the covenant being brought into the temple and then goes on to tell about the dedication of the temple and closes with Solomon’s public prayer for the temple. The major confession of Solomon’s prayer is that God has always been faithful and that Solomon trusts that God will always remain faithful. How do our memories of God’s presence affect our lives today?
Scripture: 1 Kings 8:1-61
Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the ancestral houses of the Israelites, before King Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the city of David, which is Zion. All the people of Israel assembled to King Solomon at the festival in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month.
